Ask Restaurants for Menu Changes

Many restaurants are willing to help customers who wish to eat smaller portions or are trying to avoid fats or high sugar; ask them to accommodate your needs.

Ask your favorite restaurant to:

Provide smaller portions for less money

Substitute a fruit or vegetable for french fries and chips

Offer an apple or other piece of fruit as a side order

Provide menu labeling so you can select an item that is lower in calories and contains less fat and sugar

Mark heart healthy items on their menu

Cook your items with vegetable oils instead of shortening.
